Privacy Policy
Holonote is a private diary that writes itself from where you go. Everything it records stays on your iPhone. We do not have an account system, we do not run servers that receive your data, and there is no advertising or tracking code in the app.
What Holonote records, and where it stays
Holonote uses your iPhone's location, motion, and photo library to write your diary:
- Location and motion are recorded in the background to build your timeline of visits and paths.
- Photos are matched to the moments you took them. Holonote references photos in your library. It never copies or uploads them.
- Notes, place names, icons, and edits you make are stored with your diary.
All of this is stored only on your iPhone, in the app's own storage. It is included in your device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer) according to your iPhone settings, the same as any other app's data.
The one thing that leaves your phone
To name the places you visit, Holonote asks Apple Maps for points of interest near a location, and asks Apple's geocoder for street names and time zones. These requests go to Apple, are governed by Apple's privacy policy, and are the same lookups Apple Maps itself makes. Holonote sends no other data anywhere.
What we can see
Nothing about your diary. We cannot see your locations, photos, notes, or places.
If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, and we keep it only to reply to you. If you use a beta version through TestFlight, Apple may share crash reports and any feedback you submit with us, under Apple's TestFlight terms. Apple also provides us with aggregate App Store statistics (downloads, crashes) that do not identify you.
Permissions
Holonote asks for Location ("Always"), Motion & Fitness, Photos, and Notifications. Location and Motion are required for the diary to write itself while your phone is in your pocket. Photos and Notifications are optional. You can change any of these at any time in Settings on your iPhone.
Deleting your data
Delete the app and your diary is deleted with it. There is nothing to delete on our side.
Children
Holonote is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
